The Roger Teal-trained, Cieren Fallon-ridden Distant Rumble hasn't had much respite from the handicapper since his win back on April 25, when he was raised 6 lb to a mark of 77. He is down to 67 now, and a return to Kempton's 6f, where he was a C&D winner off 68, could hopefully spark a return to form.

The Simon Dow-trained Paddy Bradley-ridden Tronido is joint top-rated on a mark of 70. Tronido remains a little high in the handicap, and her best form is on turf. That said, she is a winner here, and Simon reports that she seems to have grown stronger this season. I expect her to bounce out and hopefully hang on for at least a place at good odds.

I'm playing 2 against the field, with Frank Stamper as my each-way selection as they are paying 3 places. The Warren Greatrex-trained James Bowen, a 4yo son of Frankel, was in the frame in his first two starts over hurdles but then disappointed around here in his first attempt in a handicap, finishing last of seven. He's down a couple of pounds today and still has the benefit of the 12 lb 4yo WFA allowance against his elders, and IMO he looks overpriced.

The Joe Tizzard-trained Brendan Powell-ridden Kool Kid has been consistent, if you can forgive him his last run when doing too much early on. He may have also found the ground too soft when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell last time out. His best run was his penultimate run when 3rd over 2½m here. The drop back in trip at Plumpton should suit, and he should be in the mix.
