At evens I'll take a shot at Overs here, given Etcheverry (ranked 51) has played seven matches on the dirt so far in 2026 and only two have gone under this number. One of those was by just 0.5 of a game and the other was a loss to F. Cerundolo. The 26-year-old Argentine is also just 7??"4 on clay in the past 12 months versus opponents ranked between 50 and 100, and only three of the last 10 such matches he's played have gone under. Kopriva (ranked 87) is no slouch on clay. The 28-year-old Czech is 5??"1 on clay in ’26 and 10??"5 on clay in the past 12 months versus top-100 opposition.

I'll take a chance with the dog here given Etcheverry (ranked 51) has played seven matches on clay so far in 2026 and has failed to beat this spread in five of those matches (one was a loss to F. Cerúndolo). The 26-year-old Argentine is also just 7??"4 on clay in the past 12 months vs. opponents ranked between 50 and 100, and Kopriva (ranked 87) is no slouch on the dirt. The 28-year-old Czech is 5??"1 on clay in '26 and is 10??"5 on clay in the past 12 months vs. top-100 opposition.

Tommy Paul (ranked 24) likes it here at Delray Beach. The 28-year-old American has made the semi and final here in years past. He dispatched the man who beat him in the 2024 final, Taylor Fritz (world No. 8), in straight sets in the last round. Tien (ranked 23) has rather struggled in his first two games here in Florida, with two deciding-set matches, which will surely take a toll on his fitness in these conditions.

With four places on offer here I'll take a punt on Noel King's 9yo, who is a game and consistent sort. He improved for the step up in trip LTO, though was distinctly helped by a late faller to land a handicap by 24 lengths off a 4 lb lower mark here. He has stamina to prove perhaps, but this looks a fair price.

With four places on offer this looks the proverbial each-way bet to nothing. Won his only bumper run very nicely and then looked set to win on his hurdles bow, but Harry Skelton didn’t really ask the question. That run was clearly all about experience and fitness. He converted an easy opening down in grade to take a maiden hurdle at Huntingdon by 11 lengths last time out. Surely there is more to come for a top yard and an obvious chance back up in grade.

I really like Lucy Wadham's 7-year-old Jack Hobbs gelding, who made a successful handicap debut over 2m at Sandown last time out after a wind op. He won very nicely over 2m 2f here back in November and should be ideally suited by a fast 2m 4f at this course. The tongue-tie goes back on, and the prospect of good-to-soft ground will also suit him.

Three places here. So, at these odds, Rebecca Menzies' 7yo Elusive Pimpernel gelding looks like the proverbial each-way bet to nothing. He's on a three-timer here, having displayed a willing attitude to hold on and complete a double at Catterick LTO, that after winning here in January over 2m. He demands respect given his unbeaten record over fences. A 6 lb higher mark shouldn't prevent him from giving another good account here.

Paul Nicholls' daughter is aboard this and worth every pound of the 5 she claims. She gets on well with this 7-year-old son of Galileo. He looked like he just tired late when fourth over a longer trip here on his latest start. After a bit of a break, he should be right there at this level.

It wasn't a great debut under Rules for Olly Murphy's 6yo Jukebox Jury gelding, especially as he was so impressive in winning his only PtP start, but he's not looked back since. He's won a novice heat at Wincanton before defying a penalty at Market Rasen. Whilst not obviously well treated from an opening mark of 123, he's improving at a rate of knots and the yard are in decent form at present.

Tony Carroll's 4yo War Front gelding drops into Class 6 company for the first time in his thus-far 7-race career. He was second LTO, with today's 5-pound claimer aboard, on his second run for this yard, beaten 4 lengths in a much better novice heat (beaten by a much better-rated horse) at Wolverhampton. He perhaps has a bit to prove back in a handicap and down in trip, but his handler knows what he's doing. This horse had some very decent 3yo form when with Harry Eustace.

Ruth Carr's 8-year-old Kodi Bear gelding has been in good form since December (1-2-2-1-5). The latest fifth place was despite not enjoying the best of runs here last time out. The stable is in form. He's still on a competitive mark, and his 5-pound claimer is a very capable pilot.

Karl Burke's 4yo Dubawi colt ran a bit free but improved again when he finished second, beaten three lengths, in a novice here LTO, beaten by a nice type from the Balding yard. Middle-distance bred and effective over 1m, and IMO this opening mark still looks lenient.

Clearly facile odds here but I need a winning nap! Willie Mullins' 8-year-old son of Diamond Boy has not been seen since last year's Punchestown Festival, but his record when fresh is reassuring. The five-time Grade 1 winner is well suited by this trip and, while he would prefer the ground to be less testing, should handle the conditions, so he is taken to outclass his rivals.

This is all about the jumping for Lucinda Russell's 9yo Dylan Thomas gelding, which has rather let him down the last twice. You'd hope he's had some serious schooling at home because in the Peter Marsh here last month he made a bad mistake three out that cost him when he was travelling best of all. That effort suggests that he is still well handicapped. With a clear round here, I'd expect him to be difficult to beat.

Chris Gordon has found a good opportunity for his 6yo Magneticjim gelding here. He was placed behind the likes of Idaho Sun and Kripticjim in bumpers. Those two have both won graded events over hurdles this season. He got off to a winning start over hurdles at Fintley (a heat that's worked out pretty well, too) before failing to stay an extended 2m4f at Newbury. He chased home the pretty smart Baron Noir at Kempton LTO, and that gives him leading form claims here. Plus, the softer ground this time will suit ideally.

Fergal O'Brien's 8-year-old Soldier of Fortune gelding produced a good effort when runner-up at Cheltenham LTO in November, beaten just 1.25 lengths off a 2 lb lower mark. That followed a very good-looking run in a Graded Novices' heat at the same track. He has since undergone wind surgery. Big chance if coping with the softer ground here.

Taking a swing here in what's an open heat (for perhaps all the wrong reasons!) at a moderate level. Although George Bewley's 8yo Milan gelding is yet to show much under Rules (pulled up in a C&D handicap chase here LTO), this is his second run after wind surgery, and he showed plenty of ability when four times a runner-up in Irish PTPs. There was more to like about his chase debut (also here over C&D, a year ago) with Brian Hughes aboard. It was better than the bare 16.5-length defeat would suggest ??" taken wide throughout, he wasn’t knocked about when outpaced around the home bend. Now 9 lbs below his mark that day, if he has any ability he should be making an impact here on this rating.

James Moffatt's 9yo gelding ran too free and failed to stay when pulled up in a 2m 4f handicap hurdle here last time out, 12 days ago, but that was over hurdles and was his second run back after a long absence. His record in four chase starts is 1-5-1-1 and he's now dropped to a rating of 114, from which he won a Class 4 handicap at Hexham three starts back (albeit that in 2023). The return to fences and drop back in trip look positives, as does the booking of a decent 3 lb claimer, so taking a risk at a big price.

The Birkett's venerable 8yo Outstrip gelding produced his best form since the spring when he scored with a bit more in hand than the 1-length distance would indicate to take a 14f handicap here by a length off a 3 lb lower mark last time out. He's still on a competitive mark and clearly in good spirits.

After losing the first five games in her R16 match, Raducanu (ranked 30) then rattled off 11 games in a row and looked far more like the attacking player we know on hard courts. The Brit No. 1 has a great 15-4 career record vs. lefties like Chwalinska (ranked 146), and the 24-year-old Polish qualifier is 0-2 in her career vs. top-50 opponents. Raducanu gets "home" support here from the Romanian crowd and really should be winning this one.

Donal McCain's 6yo Getaway gelding has shown some very decent form thus far and is given a good opportunity here. He travelled nicely but threw away a win with a late error as he petered out when second, beaten a neck, in a novice hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee last time out. This two-time bumper winner (placed at Listed level) has had a short break and should come on for that return run.

Despite being without a coach (again...), Raducanu (ranked 30) ??" who's the #1 seed here in Cluj ??" really should be well sorted enough to win this match vs Juvan (ranked 97). The Brit #1 likes conditions she enjoys: indoors, hard courts, reasonably fast. She faces an opponent who's generally performed better on clay and slower surfaces. The 25-year-old Slovenian lost in R1 here last season and beat a player ranked #295 in R1 here this season.

I'll take a small risk on Ferro here. Although the 28-year-old French player is ranked just #281, that's because she's on the comeback trail from an injury that caused her to miss the entire second half of the 2025 season. She's actually had some decent results in 2026 and is facing an opponent in Bart??ková (ranked #108) who I think is being priced up on her 2-1 win over Bencic at the Aussie Open. Ferro has three decent wins here in Ostrava already (via qualies), and I think she keeps this close.

Zidansek (ranked 153) is primarily known as a clay-court player, and the 28-year-old Slovenian is just 3-5 indoors in the past three seasons. She faces a home favourite here at the Transylvania Open in Cirstea (ranked 36). This is a special event for the 35-year-old Romanian, as it will likely be one of, if not the last, times she plays in front of a home crowd; she is calling time on her career at the end of the season. She had a decent run "Down Under," taking Osaka to a decider in Melbourne and dispatched her opponent here in R1 with decent aplomb.

These two have met just once before, ironically here in Cluj in 2023, and Ruse (ranked 72) won in straight sets. The 28-year-old Romanian will, of course, get home support here at the Transylvania Open, so I'd fully expect her to repeat her win over Masarova (ranked 114), especially as the 26-year-old Swiss is not at her best on hard courts and has lost her last six straight indoor matches over the last two years. Ruse had a decent showing "Down Under" (6??"3 on the season), so should prevail.

Yuan (ranked 13) had a decent Aussie swing. The 27-year-old from China is 6-2 on the season so far and put up a respectable fight in her Aussie Open loss to world No. 2 ?wi?tek. She likes these indoor hard courts and beat Ruzic (ranked 67) in R1. Sorribes Tormo (ranked 478) is a former top-50 player, but the 29-year-old Spaniard has had a lot of injuries (hence her current lowly ranking) and lost three straight matches at ITF level to start 2026.

Not only is Potapova (ranked 58) the reigning champion here at the Transylvania Open, but the 24-year-old newly made Austrian (formerly Russian) has a 5-0 H2H against Bronzetti (ranked 110). This is actually a repeat of last year's final, and although that went to a decider, each set was pretty one-sided. Potapova wasn't in great form in 2025, but after a decent showing at the Australian Open (beat Raducanu and took reigning champion Sabalenka to two tiebreaks), she looks to be in better form here. Bronzetti is typically not as effective on faster surfaces and prefers clay. So, although it's not that fast here in Cluj, it should favour the big-hitting style of Potapova again.

Lucinda Russell’s 6yo Vadamos gelding was a runner-up on his only Irish PtP start but ran a race full of promise on his Rules debut at Ayr in March last year, where the ground was very holding. Derek Fox held him up before he made smooth progress on the turn for home but ran out of steam as the leaders quickened in the closing stages. He confirmed that run when taking a Novice Hurdle over 2m at Perth last September and was likely made too much use of when a 6.25-length third in a novice hurdle at Ayr. He had a break and this looks a fair opening on handicap debut.

Paul Nicholls' 9yo has never really taken to chasing, so it was a surprise to see him return this season over the fences. He was returned to timber LTO here at a track he likes, beaten just a short-head off a 1 lb lower mark 28 days ago. After being outpaced before the last, he did well to stay on strongly to just be touched off. He will appreciate this step back up in trip, loves Sandown, so there is plenty to suit.

Lucy Wadham's 7yo gelding has been generally progressive in his career so far, winning a Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham last April and getting off the mark at his second attempt over fences at Kempton last November. He was reported to have bled when fourth in the Noel Novices' Chase (Grade 2) at Ascot most recently. He drops in trip here but also drops in grade, and I think he has a great chance.

Paul Nicholls doesn't send his horses all the way from the West Country to Scotland just for a day out, and the yard has won 2 of the last 5 runnings of this race. This 7-year-old son of Camelot ran nicely enough but did plenty early on when he was fourth, beaten 5.25 lengths, in a handicap hurdle here LTO. His record over C&D is 2 wins and a place from 4 runs. It looks as though he's running back into form and gets the very capable Freddie Keighley aboard, who takes off 7 pounds.
