At current 25/1 odds I'm happy to take a punt on John Ryan's 8 year Old Mare LA TENE who shouldn't be judged too harshly after a 728 day layoff resulting in a poor run 39 days ago @Thurles but prior to that we have snippets of promise we had a 4th place finish again @Thurles over 16f (Soft) & 5th place here @Clonmel running through the Slop again over 16f so this return back to this shorter distance looks a positive. Being a Daughter of POUR MOI id expect this charge (she's already shown a little) to not be overly fussed about the juice filled turf. Jockey Brian Barry opened his account earlier this month & sheds a very useful 7lbs off this already potentially well weighted Mare. There are so decent looking prospects in here but I'd be more than happy enough to hit the frame.

I'll take a chance here with Terence O'Brien's 6 year old Gelding COURTBRACK BOY who granted was 23 lengths behind here 49 days ago but that winner went on to win again by 10 lengths so it certainly looked like This Son of POUR MOI ran into a very good one. This charge is Dropped 1lb for that run but I thought this lad showed alot of guile running up the hill here through the sludge which certainly counts for a lot here. The Trainer/Jockey Combo here certainly looks interesting with a 21.74% win strike rate here @Clonmel the past 5 years. Trainer has a 30.23% place strike rate here the past 5 years aswell. Jockey John Shinnick dhedscya very useful 3lbs. It's not a huge price but I certainly think this charge is capable of being in the mix.

I'm struggling between this & Whimsy & I'm convinced which ever I tip up that the other will win I'm going to go with the slightly bigger price in John Ryan's 5 year old Gelding PICCOLO PLAYER Who arrives here Featherlight & more importantly with sludge in the ground which is where this charge has shown his better efforts including a maiden win over this trip @Limerick beating a charge who won next time round rated 110. Top Conditional Jockey Michael Kenneally arrives here in Fine fettle with a 24.14% Win strike rate the past fortnight & sheds a very useful 5lbs bringing this lad right down the weights. It's certainly a deep race but it could go anyway but i wouldn't be shocked either if we saw this lad rubbing shoulders with the main contenders in the dying embers of this contest.

Kevin Thornton's 8 year old Gelding MIGHTY OAK LAD is my pick for this tricky chase affair. This Son of DOYEN can be forgiven for pulling up @Navan Earlier this month after a 368 day sabbatical but prior to that this charge had been pretty much doing everything but win boasting a chase record of 6 runs 4 places (66.67% place strike rate) & some decent back form around here with an 11 length win on Juice filled turf over hurdles & 2nd place chase keeping on through the muck just 1¼ length of the winner last year off a mark of 104 (now 103). Trainer has a 35.00% place strike rate here the past 5 years. Should this be ready to fire now you couldn't dismiss his chances.

This is tough and I like a lot of these who won impressively but they are all hiked up in weight. Michael Rice's 10 year old Gelding JINXS LINK would be one if all goes well could possibly sneak a place. This Son of DYLAN THOMAS was sent over fences for the first time 354 days ago finishing last of 8 but I'm keen to see how this lad does now returning over Hurdles finishing 4th here @Fairyhouse (16f Soft) keeping on & was just 1½ lengths behind DUKE OF LEGGAGH who went on to record back to back wins the latter beating Gabby's cross & American money by 8 lengths. Jockey JJ Slevin is back in the cockpit & knows how to get a tune out of this lad winning twice on him. This charge is dropped 3lbs & only 2lbs heavier for his last win. It's a deep race & hopefully the likely contenders are in the handicappers grasp. Small each way.

Very generous odds for Stephen Thorpe's 5 year old Mare PINK OXALIS who has come along leaps & bounds since winning here back in March 2025 off a mark of 64. This Daughter of CARAVAGGIO went on to win a decent class 3 event @The Curragh then really upset the applecart when winning a premier handicap @Leopardstown off a mark of 85 & when last seen here @Dundalk In November was just 1¾ off the winner & just a neck off one of today's Rivals CAROLINA JETSTREAM who went on to win last month. This Charge takes a big drop in trip & sheds 1lb. Experienced Jockey Gary Carroll gets the leg to for very talented trainer who's record here in such a short amount of time is very impressive (46.03% place strike rate - past 5 years). If this Mare is tuned up at the first time of asking after I break I wouldnt want to be on the wrong side of this. Big odds, I'll take my chance.

Denis Hogan's 4 year old Filly HEART OF ETERNITY has me intrigued, Now on the surface this nag looks untouchable at the present moment (and rightly so) but digging into this charges bloodline reveals quite a few positive figures. Delving dipper into this Daughter of PINATUBO it shows a respectable 21% win strike rate on both this surface & distance we also get a 22% win strike rate when cheekpieces are applied these go back on today, this progeny also has a very respectable 29.41% Win & 47.06% place strike rates here @Dundalk & this charge now tackles her 2nd handicap race 10lbs lighter. This yard are firing at the moment & jockey Joey Sheridan is also in fine fettle 53.85% place strike rate his experience will be a plus as he replaces conditional jockeys. Look possibly a swing & miss but 10lb is no small drop in weight. I'm happy to end up with egg on my face. Small each Way.

We can add a further meat to the bones with a victory here @Thurles over this trip/Going. Today's contest represents a decent drop in class & gets one of the more experienced riders in this All Women contest in the shape of Caragh Monaghan who sheds 4 very useful pounds. This Son of JEREMY drops 4lbs for that returning run, This old boy also has back form here @Thurles romping home by 8½ lengths & another win by 7½ lengths (over hurdles) all in and around this trip so when he's fired up he can certainly get it done. Potential improver over the tall timber. This Son of ALKAAHADEM didn't set the world on fire as was expected in this sphere after a very good 2nd in listed company behind Gringo Dubrelle over hurdles in December (off a mark of 124) on Heavy ground. This charge was then sent out over fences in what would seem inadequate trips so this return back to further looks better suited & perhaps was trainers target all along. Jockey Mark Walsh Is a very notable Booking arriving here with a 39.13% Win strike rate & 38.58% place strike rate here @Punchestown the past year. Look this is a complete minefield here I could sit and make a case for so many but I'll give a chance to this nicely weighted relatively unexposed chaser. Good luck.

This is a nice juicy staying handicap & one I think has some upside is Philip Rothwell's 10 year old Gelding CASEY WEST who I personally think wants a step up in trip. This Relatively light raced (for a 10 year old anyways) Son of WESTERNER was keeping on nicley on his Penultimate @Fairyhouse before Xmas (21f Yielding/Soft) & was then sent Back down in trip @Punchestown which I'm not really sure why. This Lad has placed 4th (6½ lengths) here @Navan previously & considering that was a deeper class race coming off a 212 day break & on quicker ground than he would prefer I'd say that was a decent attempt. The Heavy ground 'Should' be preferable with a win @Clonmel (21f) & 2nd @Limerick (23f). Patrick Magee's 10 year old Mare BUTTY O'BRIEN is ridiculously overpriced in my humble opinion. Ok the past 2 runs don't look great on quick inspection BUT we have an inexperienced chaser running over the tall timber after 272 days away prior to that she pulled up @Fairyhouse after a gargantuan 434 days away so we can put a line through those. This Daughter of MUSTAMEET returns here on her last winning mark of 97 where she ran her opposition into the ground here @Navan Winning by 9 lengths under todays Jockey Eoin Walsh seems to know how to get this best out of this old girl with a 40% place strike rate. This Daughter of ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL reverts back to hurdles after an unsuccessful stint over the tall timber & should this charge pick right back up where she left off this time last year which saw her finish 2nd in this very race (16f Soft) this was then followed up with a 2nd @Navan (16f 3¼ Soft OR 112) then romped home next time out by 12 lengths @Tramore. This Son of FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND is upped 2lbs for that last run but gets that negated with the booking of Sadhbh Tormey who sheds a very useful 7lbs. You could say we're at a bit of a crossroad's does he want 8f or 6f ?!? One thing that he should appreciate is the better draw in Stall #3 oppose to the #13 stall last time out - which does make you respect the 2nd place finish even more. This Daughter of WALK IN THE PARK ran her best race to date 20 days ago @Fairyhouse (20f Soft) & was still plugging away at the line so this up in trip would 'seem' to be the logical (if such a thing exists in this sport we love) step forward. Paul Mulligan's 3 year old Filly HONEY DALE looks worth a swing at 22/1 steps up in trip here which probably looks the right decision being just 4 lengths of the winner here last time out. This Daughter of DAWN APPROACH drops 2lbs & gets the services of 7lb claimer Rory Mulligan who rides for his father & has a 50% place strike rate the past fortnight. This Filly gets a much better draw in stall 5 today (14 last time out). It's tentative & I certainly wouldn't be running down to the bookies in a hurry but a very small each way wouldn't hurt.

Philip Rothwell’s 10-year-old French gelding UNION PARK went into the tracker 68 days ago after a respectable enough run at Punchestown in a competitive Albert Bartlett qualifer keeping on well off a mark of 104, and now gets a decent claimer in the saddle in the shape of Tiernan Power Roche, which is a big positive. This son of WALK IN THE PARK also has a strong record here at Thurles, with a 67% place strike rate over the past five years. Soft ground shouldn’t bother this lad. Both jockey and trainer have decent enough records here as well, with five-year place strike rates of 25.16% and 27.59% respectively. At 14/1, the price seems a little on the high side, in my humble opinion.

This is an interesting one - Sean Allen's Newest Arrival 7 year old Mare SIUL MOLLY SIUL who to my untrained eye looked a stayer when watching her past few runs, New trainer had this Daughter of BULLET TRAIN booked to run at the postponed Limerick meeting earlier this week over 2mile but this trip looks better suited with a 2nd place @Clonmel (19f Soft) 5lbs heavier on her CV. This Mare has shown a bit more gusto when running on the testing turf & drops another 2lbs. The most intriguing/interesting part here is the booking of very talented Jockey Eoin Staples who sheds a very useful 5lbs & has 32.35% place strike rate the past month & very respectable 42.86% here @Thurles the past 5 years. This Yard doesn't have many runners but I've landed a few wins with there runners but this is more of a hunch & I'm well prepared for it to blow up in my face.

The Itch just won't go away & be it right or wrong I need to tip up Chris Timmons 4 year old Filly KAYAMITE especially at odds of 33/1. This daughter of DANDY MAN was 4¼ lengths off the LAHORE DA KING who won his 2nd race in succession now rated 57. This charge now gets 10lb claimer Milo Malone in the saddle which when adding the handicappers 4lb drop has this charge ready for battle a whole stone lighter which is insane Yes there are others in with chances here but these odds are way too big to ignore

Perhaps David Marnane's 10 year old Gelding JERED MADDOX's best days are well and truly behind him but this old boy has landed me some big priced wins in the past so certainly owes me nothing but on his current mark (like many in this contest) I can't see how you could totally dismiss him. This Son of LAWMAN is no stranger here @Dundalk notching up 11 career win here with 6 of those over today's trip off marks of 58-74 & yes I know this lad hasn't been at the races but it has only been 2 runs here since we saw This charge winning a much deeper contest off a mark of 82 (5f). Normally I'd be thrilled at nabbing stall #1 but this lad has never been one to make the running so that's kind of irrelevant & if im being honest the jockey booking doesn't exactly thrill me but I'm not here to knock jockeys I totally respect the job they do & besides 10lb is extremely helpful. Would I back this lad at 10/1 no I wouldn't but at 33/1 I'm happy to have a very small each way for this proven track specialist.

We're getting double figures here surprisingly for Paul Gilligan's 7 year old Mare SURVIVORS SISTER who was making rapid late headway here @Limerick (19f Soft/Heavy) over the Christmas period when falling at the last now there are questions as to wether this Daughter of MOUNT NELSON would have caught the eventual winner but this charge is only upped 1lb & Trainer gives his Son (Jack Gilligan) the leg up who sheds a very useful 5lbs & has a 24.32% place strike rate here the past 5 years. Should this charge be ok after that fall then we can hope for a similar run (minus the fall). Were certainly not getting the 40/1 odds that were on offer 29 days ago but still decent each odds in my humble opinion.

Big price here for Liam Burke's 8 year old Mare CLOUDY FOUNTAIN of course the price is well deserved however I don't think this Daughter of CLOUDINGS cant be totally written off with this charge being very unexposed over the tall timber & when taking in talented claimer Michael Kenneally's 7lb allowance it brings this Mare 10lbs below her last win over Hurdles. The step back up in trip 'Should' suit with this girl's better performances coming over 23-24f & ground shouldn't pose too many questions either with the aforementioned races coming on testing ground. Jockey has a 25% place strike rate the past month & 41.18% place strike rate here @Punchestown the past 5 years. Big 40/1 odds with enough in the profile for me to hope (and prey).

Martin Brassil's 8 year old Gelding BUILT BY BALLY MORE has drifted slightly in the market I should probably take that as a sign but where is the fun in that? Besides that though this Son of FLEMINSFIRTH's run on New Year's Eve @Punchestown wasn't awful considering he was returning from a 297 day sabbatical & this drop to a previous winning distance (over hurdles) could be just what this lad needs. The Juice filled turf shouldn't worry him either. Jockey JJ Slevin is absolutely flying at the moment with a 35.71% win strike rate the past fortnight. The odds have helped sway my descion here despite the market slightly waning.

I'm going to have to delve into my ever growing book of excuses to help make my case for Emmet Mullins 7 year old French Gelding JUSTATAN but too be fair that's maybe a bit too harsh because I thought this Son of ESTEJO was running ok when last seen running @Clonmel (16f Heavy) on penultimate & I certainly don't think the Winner (& Today's Rival) would have won by 6 lengths had our charge have not been badly hindred & it's credit to him to have even been able to scrape back 3rd place. Not so bad right? WELL I've absolutely no idea what happened over the Christmas period (@Limerick) but perhaps this step up in trip can bring about some improvement here on Handicap Debut. Jockey Donagh Meyler has a decent enough record the past month 29.03% place strike rate & 41.25% place strike rate when riding for this yard the past year. It's tentative & the price is right - Small stakes only.

Patrick McKenna’s 4 year old Gelding BATTLE BORNE ran a solid race here two weeks ago when finishing a respectable third, beaten 4½ by Beat The Devil, who features again in today’s renewal 2lbs higher (7lb is negated by a decent claimer) Crucially, This Son of ACCLAMATION competes from the same mark here, leaving him potentially better treated at the weights relative to the winner this time around. He is also much better drawn in Stall #3 looking ideal compared to Beat The Devil, who has been posted wide. Paddy Harnett is back in the saddle once more, and boasts a solid 28.8% place strike-rate at Dundalk over the past five years. At around 16/1, he looks to have each-way claims in what could be a more favourable set-up today.

Ciaran Murphy’s 4 Year old Gelding TOMMY MCJOHN caught the eye last time out and wasn’t beaten far when fading late on at Dundalk. That run suggested there’s more to come, and the circumstances today look more favourable. This son of MEHMAS now drops 4lb in the weights, is drawn ideally in stall one, and benefits from a valuable 7lb claimer aboard in Rory Mulligan. He’s already proven himself over this trip on the turf, which adds another positive to the profile. With conditions likely to suit and the handicap mark easing, he looks well worth consideration and could be very competitive at the prices.
